My Fear of Promotion…
Years ago, I had a very bad experience with paying for promotion.
Years ago, I didn’t know what I know about paying for promotion, artificial streams and bots.
Years ago, I released a song called “Dispensary”, and I paid for some promotion services. The package I paid for had a cap limit of 50,000 streams; meaning the package didn’t guarantee 50,000 streams, the cap was 50,000.
after the campaign, the song received over a million streams, which flagged my distributor, and they accused me of artificial, and bot streaming.
My distributor pulled my music from the shelves, and suspended my subscription with no refund.
After the distributor did their investigation, it was revealed that my streams were not artificial, and they paid me for the streams.
After that experience, I was very uncomfortable with paying for promotion services, and spotify policies on promotions are very strict.
But now I have learned some things, and now I’m ready to promote and put myself on the map.
