The inspiration for this song was my mother. This song explains what I do when I’m in a situation that's got me aggravated, vexed, and angry and I can’t physically remove myself at the time.
I mentally “Disconnect”; no longer part of the conversation, no longer listening or paying attention to the person or the situation anymore.
I literally check out mentally -that’s what it means to “Disconnect...”
Lyrics:
I can disconnect!
I can disconnect!
I can disconnect!
When you’re saying something I don’t want to hear!
I can disconnect!
When you’re doing things that offend me!
I can disconnect!
When you’re saying something I don’t want to hear!
I can disconnect!
When you’re doing things that offend me!
I can disconnect!
When you’re saying something I don’t want to hear!
I can disconnect!
When you’re doing things that offend me!
I can disconnect!
When you’re saying something that gets me pissed!
I can disconnect!
When you’re saying something to offend me!
I can disconnect!
When you’re saying things that make no sense!
I can disconnect!
When you’re unhappy, you want to bring unhappy to me!
I know you have heard the expression
“I’ve checked out!” - left the conversation
I’m not in the room – but I’m in the room
no more attention of mine will I give to you!
Ooh hell yes! I am thru!
Right now! I’m not listening to you no more!
You got me cornered where I cant leave
I can check out of this!
I don’t even have to leave!
I can disconnect!
When you’re saying something I don’t want to hear!
I can disconnect!
When you’re doing things that offend me!
I can disconnect!
When you’re saying something I don’t want to hear!
I can disconnect!
When you’re doing things that offend me
I remember the other day
in the car, we were driving away
we were having some conversation!
Something said, it brought irritation!
To my mood, my whole attitude!
Flip the switch, I’m done with this1
I’ve checked out! You can have this!
I’m sitting here, but I ain’t here!
I can disconnect!
When you’re saying something I don’t want to hear!
I can disconnect!
When you’re doing things that offend me!
What makes you think you say?
Anything to me, without reacting!
I am human, just like the next!
My feelings, and myself – I must protect!
Me checking out, is how I defend
from me losing it, or maybe a friend
or maybe a relative, I must confess
disconnect, is how I rest!
I can disconnect!
I can disconnect!
I can disconnect!
I can disconnect!
I can disconnect!
When you’re saying something I don’t want to hear!
I can disconnect!
When you’re doing things that offend me!
I can disconnect!
When you’re saying something I don’t want to hear!
I can disconnect!
When you’re doing things that offend me!
When you’re saying something I don’t to hear!
When you’re doing things that offend me
I can disconnect!
I can disconnect!
